Say no to Tuxedo Ridge Casino and Resort
As a patron, an actor and now as one who works behind the scenes at the New York Renaissance Faire, this cannot be allowed to happen.
I have lived in Monroe and southern Orange County for more than 50 years and have seen many changes, some good, and some not so good, and the construction of two hotels with a casino on this site will not benefit Tuxedo, Greenwood Lake and Monroe in the ways needed.
I was blessed to see my children work and grow into adults working at the NYRF, saw my son joust and meet his wife there, and my daughter grow into the confident and secure professional woman.
While I do not act there anymore, it is still a special place for me and the thousands of patrons who attend each year.
The corporation floating this proposal has a track record of promising a panacea to fix all the communities ills and not producing. One just needs to look on the internet news paper sites for the Biscayne News or New York Times.
This is a bad development plan which will not help Tuxedo, Greenwood Lake, Monroe or southern Orange County.
