Why are you running for town board?

The primary reason I’m running for Woodbury Village Mayor is that, as a taxpayer, I can no longer stand by and watch reckless spending, duplicated services and self-serving politics negatively impact our entire community. Now more than ever, we need leadership that prioritizes residents over personal interests.

It’s time to invest wisely in our small businesses, strengthen our infrastructure and seize the opportunities within Woodbury’s reach to grow and thrive.

What are the top three issues facing the town today and how do you plan to address them?

Water and sewer infrastructure improvements: Despite my opponent’s 12 years in local government, we have yet to see meaningful progress in securing adequate water resources for Woodbury. Until recently, our sewer issues were also largely ignored. We should not wait until we reach a crisis point to take action. It’s time to address these challenges proactively with consistent and early efforts.

Cut reckless spending and end duplication of services: Recently, Woodbury residents have seen their tax dollars spent on services already provided by the Town. Allocating funds to redundant initiatives, such as separate Parks and Beautification Committees. This is a waste of taxpayer money and only deepens the divide within our community.

Land conservation: We must continue identifying and acquiring land to preserve Woodbury’s natural beauty and protect our quality of life. I will work to pinpoint areas that both the Town and Village can collaboratively utilize expanding our “Woodbury Residents Only” park system and expanding on the 300+ acres of land we’ve already protected.

What sets you different from your opponent?

I will not diminish my opponent’s character because that’s not how politics should be conducted. However, when it comes to leadership and the determination to get things done, that is where we differ. As a blue-collar worker, I believe that when you give your word, you follow through.

From day one as Town Councilman, we’ve delivered meaningful results and the progress speaks for itself.

Now, as I run for Mayor, I give you my word I will deliver real results, not empty rhetoric.

Andrew Giacomazza

Why are you running for mayor?

My name is Andrew Giacomazza and I am currently the Mayor of the Village of Woodbury and the Woodbury Republican Committee endorsed candidate to be re-elected in the same role as Mayor.

I began my service to the Village of Woodbury as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for more than four years. It was there where I learned to “cut my teeth” on the inner workings of municipal government. That educational led to me running for Village Trustee in 2018. I was elected to the board in 2019 and served as both Trustee and Deputy Mayor for the next two years. My role as trustee led to me running for Mayor and I have proudly served my residents since in that capacity for the last three plus years.

What are the top three issues facing the town today and how do you plan to address them?

In my time as mayor we have protected our open spaces, passed dozens of local laws to address loopholes in the code, protect water bodies and assist local business. We put the first new municipal well online in 25 years.

Made sure that are first responders have everything needed to assist our residents and do their job safely, and in return, assist them by advocating for state and local tax breaks.

Environmentally we have cleaned lakes, planted trees and protected land from development.

Fiscally we have received a perfect NYS Stress Rating and have passed responsible budgets that address the growing needs of this community.

I feel I have been more pro-active than reactive to the needs of my residents and that I have the experience, the drive and a solid record of protecting our resources while promoting responsible growth.

What sets you apart from your challenger?

I am a business owner, a husband, a father of four, and have always dedicated my time to various local, civic and school organizations, including serving as president of the Hudson Valley Knights of Columbus.

Help me continue what we started. I truly believe the juice is worth the squeeze.
