Updated: Pedestrian killed on I-87
Woodbury. The incident ocurred between exits 15a and 16 in the early morning hours of Feb. 27.

On February 27, at around 1:04 a.m., New York State Police were called to I-87 southbound, between Exit 15a (Sloatsburg) and Exit 16 (Harriman) for a report of a serious crash between a car and a pedestrian.
After a preliminary investigation, state police have determined that 36-year-old Erika J. Gargan, of Schuyler Lake, NY, was in the center lane of I-87 near mile marker 43.5, when she was struck by a 2021 Honda CRV being driven by David L. Millman, 67, of Washington, NJ. Gargan suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Millman was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact State Police Troop F BCI at 845-344-5300 with any information.
Pedestrian use of I-87 is strictly prohibited in all areas of the Thruway except on the Grand Island Bridge’s sidewalks and on the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge’s shared use path.
