Glenmere Mansion and Spa name wine director and director of events

— Glenmere Mansion and Spa has appointed two new directors to its management team.
Joining the hotel as Wine Director is Barbie Huelser Messa.
Wine directorMessa is certified with the Court of Master Sommeliers, Society of Wine Educators and awarded a “Distinction” with Wine Spirits Education Trust (Level 3).
She will oversee the wine cellar for Glenmere Mansion as well as organize the very popular “Thursday Night Wine Dinners” that pair wines from the Glenmere wine cellar with food selected from a different wine region from around the world.
Before joining the management team at Glenmere Mansion she was associated with a number of prestigious restaurants and hotels including Blue Hill at Stone Barns, David Burke Kitchen and the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Charleston, S.C.
She also was selected as a “Wine Ambassador” for New York City “Wine Tours.”
Messa attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, New York University and holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Columbia University. Beyond wine, her interests include sailing, Tar Heel Basketball and all things Italian.
Director of eventsAlso newly named to the Glenmere Mansion management team is Linda Tuthill as Director of Events.
Tuthill will oversee the events department staff for the hotel. She has had an extensive career in the hospitality industry overseeing the event departments for The Thayer Hotel, Abigail Kirsch Catering, The Tarrytown House Estate and Lessings at Whitby Castle.
Tuthill previously owned her own wedding events company, “Moments Away,” as well as being the owner/chef for “The Wooden Spoon” Café.
During her career, Tuthill has been featured as a wedding events expert on the Style Network’s television show “Whose Wedding is it Anyway?”
Coming this spring: 'The Barn'Tuthill and her staff are currently organizing all the upcoming seasonal holiday parties that are held in different rooms of the hotel, corporate meetings, pharmaceutical dinners as well as all the events that will take place in the new hotel event space called ‘The Barn” at Glenmere Mansion.
Currently under construction for a spring 2019 opening, "The Barn” will be a 10,000-square-foot enclosed space for weddings and corporate meetings being built on a private meadow beside the hotel.
