Orange County. Chamber CEO elected to the CANYS Board of Directors

The Chamber Alliance of New York State (CANYS), a statewide association of over 70 Chambers of Commerce, has elected Heather Bell, President and CEO of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce to its Board of Directors.

Bell brings with her over 25 years of experience through her work in Corporate Community & Government Relations for an International Brewer where she acted as the Chamber Liaison Corporate Partner, then witnessed her own small business excel because of a Chamber Membership and finally landing in the non-profit world, still accrediting success to the Chamber affiliation.

“I’m extremely pleased to have Heather serve on our Board to help further the work of the Alliance in providing professional development, valuable resources and strong advocacy insights to our chambers of commerce throughout New York State,” Peter Aust, Executive Director of CANYS said. “Heather’s passion for chambers is effusive, her experience extensive and I’m confident our association will continue to grow with her involvement.”

She is staunch proponent of advocating for small businesses and said she feels they can thrive with the support of large businesses.

“I am so honored to be able to serve CANYS in this way and to be able to share my passion for business, economic development and advocacy on behalf of my colleagues across the state,” Bell said. “The work that Chambers of Commerce do is critical to the survival, growth and innovation of the communities that we represent. What we do makes a difference and I am pleased that I can pair my passion with that of CANYS, and help to grow this association in New York State.”
