Support for the school budget
I am a taxpayer and a resident of the Monroe-Woodbury school District and have grand children attending school here. I represent other residents who are concerned about not only our taxes, but also the education of our children. The proposed budget growth this year of less than 1 percent along with the controlled growth for the past three years shows us that the Board of Education has provided the leadership during this incredibly difficult financial time. The tax rate over the last three years has gone down to its lowest rate in our school budget history, which I may add is amazing given the loss of state aid. The other residents and I have seen after several years, a renewed and effective focus on ensuring the children of Monroe-Woodbury are educated properly. Having watched the Board of Education meetings in the last two years, we have seen the board members give the direction to the district to implement the necessary tools that is necessary to raise the achievement of our children. Based on the previous facts, we will be voting yes for the budget. In addition and based on the progress shown during their tenure, we will be also voting for the incumbents, Mrs. Carter, Mr. Chan and Mrs. Trumper. Diane Owen Highland Mills
