She reached out; the community came through again

I am once again writing, a year later, to sing the praises of one of the youth of Monroe. I have been involved in collecting items that our troops request on anysoldier.com. Last year, I wrote you about an extraordinary youth named Christy McCoy. Well, once again I want to tell you of the work this young girl has accomplished. Christy’s family contacted me and told me she had collected items again this year. Christy collected a carload of items and $500 for their postage. She presented me with these items. I am sending them to an Army medic, two Marine sergeants and another member of the Army to distribute to their troops. These items will be distributed to soldiers in need. Christy not only collected money and items but got her social studies and religious education groups involved. There were also stuffed animals, handmade cards and dozens of letters. She reached out to our great community. They have come through again for those they do not even know. I would like to thank her and all of you for them. Sixteen 12-by-12 boxes were filled from these generous gifts. Kathleen Aldinger Monroe
