Oct. 16 to 22 marks 'National Friends of Libraries Week'
The Monroe Free Library is so fortunate to have the very best friends group of fabulous volunteers who contribute so much of their enthusiasm and expertise to significantly enhance the library’s services. This is the perfect time to acknowledge the immensely important role Our Friends play in our library and our community. They volunteer a huge amount of their time and talent managing their popular and successful book store, known as “The Book Garden.” By selling gently used books, and introducing their new innovative “Shopper’s Loyalty Card,” they give the community wonderful values. The income that is generated is then reinvested into the library and the community. Our Friends bestow and boost fun and excitement for the children in the community by sponsoring fabulously fun activities and events throughout the year. Our Friends support and subsidize spectacular cultural activities for the community. Our Friends endow and endorse gifts to our library, our community, our schools, and our troops. Our Friends partner with our schools and community to promote interest in reading, and the importance of our library. Dear Friends of the Monroe Free Library, you are our best supporters. Our gratitude is endless. Please accept our sincere and heartfelt thank you. Barbara Zerner, board president Monroe Free Library
