'The choice is clear: Vote for James Skoufis'

As a school related professional for the past 21 years, I always look closely at the education platform of the candidates seeking public office. Young people are our most important resource and it is vital than we invest in them so they can be informed and productive citizens.
Therefore, it is important to elect people who support strong K-12 public schools, an evaluation system for educators that is fair to students and teachers and making college more affordable for the middle class.
The only candidate running for the State Senate in the 39th District who supports those things in word and deed is Assemblyman James Skoufis.
Having graduated from Monroe-Woodbury, James is a product of public schools.
As an Assemblyman, he worked tirelessly to ensure fair funding to the school districts he represented.
He also secured full-day kindergarten funding for North Rockland and Washingtonville.
James has also been a strong advocate for a fair teacher evaluation system that allows for local control and removes the “test and punish” approach of the NYSED.
An early leader on college affordability, he will fight to expand the Excelsior Scholarship so that more hard working young people qualify for much needed relief.
This year the choice is clear.
Vote for James Skoufis on Nov. 6.
