Gone
Congratulations to the people who have been stonewalling the Tuxedo Reserve development for the past 25 years.
The Reserve would have placed enough students into the Tuxedo School District that it would have been able to handle the loss of the Greenwood Lake students.
Now, most likely, the high school will close. One of the best schools in the state, the teachers’ jobs, support staff jobs and the commerce generated by it will be gone.
This is a huge loss to the people of Tuxedo.
School taxes will most likely double (Monroe-Woodbury or Suffern). This will financially strain or crush already strained budgets of fixed-income seniors and blue collar families or become astronomical for those who are better off.
In the future, when you drive out of the county to pick up your child from school or your business closes or you open your school tax bill and can’t afford to live in Tuxedo anymore ... find someone who has been fighting Tuxedo reserve for years, look them in the eye and thank them for a job well done.

P.S. Wait until the sewer district has to shoulder the burden of a $13 million treatment plant that the Reserve had offered to pay for.
