A daughter’s perspective

I am writing this letter to explain to everyone why my mother, Irene Conklin, should be elected as Village of Monroe trustee.

My mother is the most giving and unselfish person I have ever known. She is a hard worker and very dedicated to anything she sets her mind to. She has been involved in many different things over the years and everything she has been involved in she has given 100 percent of herself.

When my brother, sister and I were younger, my mother chose to be a stay-at-home-mom to raise us and if I might add, she did a wonderful job. As we got older and more independent, my mother went out into the work force for the Monroe-Woodbury School District driving a school bus.

My parents both volunteered for whatever activities we did as we were growing up. They were actively involved in Monroe-Woodbury Little League, cheerleading, soccer, skiing and Girl Scouts as well as school functions, field trips and the like. My mother has the time, dedication, knowledge and ability to perform the functions as the Village Trustee.

The Village of Monroe needs my mother on the board. She has many great ideas and I know from past experiences that she will work very hard to get the job done.

My mother is not seeking this position for self gratitude or reward; she wants this position so she can help others and to make a difference. I know that she will make a positive difference for this community. The experience that she has representing the members of her union is the same experience that she needs to represent the residents of the Village of Monroe.

I think that this next term for trustee is my Mom’s turn to prove to the community that her dedication, commitment and ideas are what Monroe has been waiting for.

Monroe is in need of a change, we all know that. My mother is ready to make those changes. Vote Row C for Conklin on March 20. Give my mom her chance to shine.

    Hope Conklin Monroe
