Woodbury police arrest pair in armed robbery of outlet store
Central Valley - The Town of Woodbury Police Department has charged two people in connection with what they called a violent armed robbery at the G-Star Raw clothing store at Woodbury Common Premium Outlet late last month. According to a press release issued by Sgt. Clifford Weeks, three suspects entered the store at about 8:05 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, and hid in the bathroom until closing. One suspect then displayed what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun and assaulted store workers, causing injuries to one employee that required nine staples to close wounds on the employee’s head, Weeks said. Employees were then forced to open the safe and an undetermined amount of cash was taken. The assailants then bound some of the employees and locked them in the bathroom, securing the door using an electrical cord. Suspects then fled out the rear to a waiting vehicle. The crime was captured on the store’s surveillance system. With the assistance of State Police, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the New Windsor Police Department, Woodbury police this week arrested Jim E. Palomon, 31, of New Windsor and Tanysha S. Newman, 33, of Newburgh. They were charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and first-degree unlawful imprisonment. Palomon, Weeks noted, had been a security officer at the clothing store until two weeks ago. They are being held in the Orange County Jail on $500,000 cash bail. Weeks said the investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.
