Tuxedo Park — The Tuxedo Park School kindergarten class recently presented almost $253 raised through their Kindergarten Post Office to Jacquie Zygmund and her dog Percy from Eleventh Hour Rescue in Rockaway, N.J. Theclass raised the money by running a school-wide post office in February. They set up a mailbox, sold homemade stamps for five cents each, collected, tallied, canceled, sorted, and delivered a total of 1,834 letters in a two week period. According to their teacher Andrea Hutchins, “this is a wonderful part of our community helpers unit where the children do hands-on learning to understand the job of the U.S. Postal Service.” Tthe class also talked about community organizations that need donations to continue their helpful work. The class decided they wanted to make a donation to an animal shelter.
