Unbeaten and unscored upon

CENTRAL VALLEY — On Monday afternoon, Oct. 6, the Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Boys Soccer team wrapped up its regular season schedule with a 2-0 victory over the Goldbacks of Newburgh Free Academy.
The Crusaders capped off their incredible run through the OCIAA Division 1 schedule this season, unbeaten and unscored upon. The future looks bright for the Crusaders they will only loose four players to graduation and several key players missed significant time due to injury.
After a scoreless first half Petro Klisch took a Colin Lagarde throw in and buried a shot from 25 yards out into the top corner of the Goldbacks net to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead.
Later in the second half Klisch brought the ball down the left side, beat his defender and a put a beautiful cross onto the foot to Connor Paik who put it past the Goldback goalie for the score.
The Crusaders defense had another strong game, limiting the Goldbacks to four shots on the day. It was goalie Dylan McDermott's 13th shutout of the season.
The Crusaders victory brings their record to 12-2-2. They will be in the playoffs but their seed and their next opponent will determined on Wednesday night at an OCIAA meeting.
