HIGHLAND MILLS — The Woodbury Wolverines finished their third season in NYBE Elite with a 7-5 records, good for second place and the playoffs.

They entered the payoffs on a high note when veteran, multi-dynamic player and cleanup hitter Austin Palmieri returned from a knee injury.

The Wolverines won the first game of the playoffs against the O.C. Crusaders by the score of 4-0 behind errorless ball and a six-inning no-hitter by Danny Ryan.

Not only did Danny pitch a no-hitter, there was only one base runner allowed.

Wolverine catcher Collin Murray has now caught two no-hitters in the last year.

The defense was fantastic, led by Austin Palmieri and Brandon Tarasenko.

Going into the final, the Wolverines were not satisfied with second place. They were playing the O.C. Warriors, a team that had finished with only one loss during the regular season.

The Wolverines started Peter Berlesky who kept the high-powered offense to two runs over the first three innings.

Jaden Fatemen came in relief and kept the Warriors at bay for the rest of the game.

Going into the top of the last inning with the Wolverines down 3-2, Collin Murray lead off with a single, stole second and scored the tying run on a RBI double by Austin Palmieri.

Fatemen kept the Warriors off balance, and scoreless, in the bottom of the sixth taking the game into extra innings.

The Wolverines weren’t able in the top of the seventh and the Warriors squeaked one across the plate for the win.

The Wolverines continue to improve from when they started just one year ago. They will take couple of months off to relax and will be back at it again beginning in January.
