On a rainy windy Halloween afternoon, Ocg. 31, the Crusaders faced the Vikings of Valley Central for the 2019 Section 9 Championship at Faller Field in Middletown.

The Crusaders entered the game the number 1 seed with a 16-1 record; the Vikings 14-3 the number two seed.

The Crusaders beat the Vikings twice during the regular season 3-0 and 2-0.

The Crusaders went right to work. A quick pass from Marissa Key to Josephine Sorce put the Crusaders up 1-0.

Sorce struck again before the half when she hammered in shot from 30 yards out and the Crusaders were up 2-0.

Ten minutes into the second half, Kaelyn Salatto worked a beautiful give-and-go with Alexis DeLeo who sniped a shot into the Viking net for a 3-0 lead.

Salatto finished off the scoring with 18:55 left in the game when she scored with a rocket from outside the eighteen.

The Crusaders defense pitched another shut out with Angela Fini in goal, the Crusaders have only had six goals scored against them this year.

The Crusaders 4-0 victory over the Vikings gives them their seventh consecutive Section 9 title.

They will begin defense of their NYSPHSAA Championship on Saturday afternoon when they face the winner of the play in game between Section 1 and Section 4 at Goshen High School.
