M-W Varsity Girls Soccer Team opens its 2026 season on Sept. 2

On a beautiful late summer morning, the Crusaders Girls soccer team started its preseason training at Monroe-Woodbury High School.
The Crusaders finished last season as the Section 9 champions with a 15-3 record. Their season came to an end when they lost to North Rockland 2-1 in the opening round of the state playoffs.
Head Coach Bill Mpasiakos, who starts his 11th year on the Crusader sideline, has posted a record of 152-24-10 in his 10 years. The team has made the playoffs in each of the 10 years, winning eight section titles, five regional and two state championships.
The Crusaders will bring back a strong group of players, including returning Section 9 All-Star Grace Gillette and Kyra Gilligan, who is committed to the U. S. Military Academy at West Point to play lacrosse.
The Crusaders will open their season on Wednesday, Sept. 2, when they travel to Wayne, N.J., to take on the Spartans of DePaul Catholic.
