M-W swimmers conclude successful season

ITHACA — Senior Morgan Fairclough became the first state champion in Monroe-Woodbury swimming and diving history by winning the 100 backstroke this past weekend at the New York State Swimming and Diving Championships in Ithaca.

The medley relay team of Taylor Stalnaker, Morgan Fairclough, Claudia Kolakowski and Emily McGurk finished in second place and broke their own Section 9 record.
The second-place finish also marks the best relay finish in school history, Coach Justin Wright noted.
The 400 Freestyle relay team of Jenn Paul, Emily McGurk, Morgan Fairclough and Taylor Stalnaker finished in sixth place.
Taylor Stalnaker placed fourth overall in the backstroke and was the highest finisher of all underclassman in the event.
“This marked the conclusion of the most successful swim season in school history,” Wright said in his press release announcing the results. “Great job, girls.”
