GOSHEN — The Monroe-Woodbury Boys Varsity Soccer Team traveled to Goshen High School on Wednesday, Sept. 13, to take on the Gladiators.
The Crusaders entered the game a little banged up after three tough road games in row to open their season.
Unfortunately for the Crusaders, the injury list just got longer as the Gladiators ran away with a 5-1 victory.
The Gladiators scored their first goal about half way through the first half and under a minute later added another to go up 2-0.
With just under two minutes to go in the half they score once more and had a 3-0 lead at the half.
Crusaders Head Coach Ken Clearwater regrouped the team at half time and made some adjustments
The team responded just three minutes into the second half when Ryan Hatch chased down a rebound off the Gladiator goalie and put it in the net to cut the lead down to two.
But the Crusaders comeback attempt came up short as the Gladiators took control of the game and scored two more times to give them a 5-1 victory over the Crusaders.
The Crusaders loss brings their season record to 2-1-1.
