Give the gift of a lifetime: A NYS fishing, trapping, or hunting license
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos suggests giving the gift of conservation.
“Hunting, trapping, and fishing in New York State has never been better, and this gift provides outdoorsmen and women with a lifetime of outdoor recreational opportunities," Seggos said. "Purchasing a Habitat and Access Stamp during this year’s holiday sales promotion is an excellent way to support New York’s wildlife management efforts.”
Lifetime licenses are available to New York State residents who have lived in New York for at least 12 months prior to purchase. Proof of residency is required.
They may be purchased at any license-issuing agent, by phone at 866-922-2257, or online with a current driver or non-driver ID containing a valid New York State address. Allow two weeks for delivery of licenses purchased online or by phone.
Lifetime licenses may also be purchased as gifts for residents under the age of 16 with proof of age (birth certificate, passport, driver’s license) and proof of residency (parent/legal guardian proof of residency) for the recipient. Gift lifetime licenses can be purchased in person at any license issuing agent.
Lifetime fishing, trapping or hunting licenses and privileges entitle the holder to all the privileges of equivalent annual licenses and privileges, but these licenses are good for a lifetime (with appropriate hunter/trapper education requirements), even if the holder is no longer a New York State resident. The combination Lifetime License includes both hunting and fishing privileges, as well as turkey permits:
