Crusaders send Gladiators to defeat 51-18 in girls varsity basketball

CENTRAL VALLEY — On Wednesday night, Feb. 14, the Monroe-Woodbury Girls Varsity Basketball Team played its last home game of the season, taking on the Goshen High School Gladiators.
In a ceremony before the game, the Crusaders paid tribute to Caroline Helbeck, their lone senior on the team this year.
Jamie Waldron got the team off to a strong start when she scored 11 points in the first quarter as the Crusaders took a 15-7 lead.
In the second quarter, the Crusaders jumped out to a commanding 19-point lead with Helbeck getting her first extended playing time after being out with an injury since mid-December.
In the second half the Crusaders defense shut the Gladiators down and held them to eight points as the they went on to a 23-point victory.
The Crusaders' 51-18 victory brings their season record to 9-9.
Their next game will be Feb. 20th at 6:30 p.m. at Valley Central High School.
