Song of the Valley director wins award

MIddletown Lisbet P. Kline, director of Song of the Valley Chorus, in Middletown, was selected as the first recipient of the newly created Harriette Walters Leadership Award. The award was presented to Kline in the presence of nearly 400 Sweet Adelines from throughout the region, including nine members from Song of the Valley. Kline, a native of Denmark, came to the United States in 1985. She has been a Sweet Adeline for 33 years. During that time, she has become known and widely recognized throughout the Sweet Adelines world as an outstanding music director, teacher and coach of both choruses and quartets. She became director of Song of the Valley Chorus in 2005 and was elected to the regional board of directors in 2006, where she currently serves as education coordinator. The award was established by the regional board in honor of Walters, an outstanding music director of Greater Nassau Chorus, a consistent international competitor. Its purpose is to recognize Sweet Adelines leaders who have consistently demonstrated.
