Recharge your batteries at Monroe YMCA

MONROE --- Are you still coping with no power in your house? Need to recharge your cell phone? Want to watch TV? Or are you simply craving a warm and refreshing shower? The South Orange Family YMCA in Monroe is opening its facilities to anyone affected by Hurricane Sandy's power outages and is looking for a safe place to regroup. “The showers are open for anybody,” said Ross Miceli, the Y's executive branch manager on Wednesday. “We're open for the community. Come and get a shower, recharge your cell phone, use your laptop or just watch TV. That's what we're here for, that's what makes us different than a gym and a real community center.” Miceli also offered non-Y members affected by Hurricane Sandy a free day pass to use the facilities. “We know it's a tough time for people who are without power,” said Miceli. “If we can do something to help them get recharged as they address their challenges, we're glad to help. We are here for the community.” To learn more, call 782-9622.
