Orange Nursery devastated by early morning fire

Highland Mills. The fire occurred the morning of December 24.

The Woodbury Fire Department came to the rescue of Orange Nursey and Stone Supply in Highland Mills on the morning of December 24. According to a report issued by the fire department, members were dispatched at 5:11 a.m. to what was initially described as an unknown type of fire in the area of 1143 Route 32.

Upon their arrival, firefighters found the nursery, at 1129 Route 32, “actively on fire,” resulting in a request for a second alarm, which was fulfilled by several mutual aid companies. The fire was placed under control at about 8:40 a.m. that day.

The Woodbury Fire Department expressed thanks for aid received by the following companies: Town of Woodbury Police Department, Woodbury Community Ambulance, Highland Engine Company #1, Mountainville Engine Company, Mombasha Fire Company, Monroe-Lakeside Fire and Rescue Company, Harriman Engine, Washingtonville Fire Department, Vails Gate Fire Department, Salisbury Mills Fire Company, Mountain Lodge Park Fire Company, Storm King Engine Company #2, West Point Professional Firefighters, Kiryas Joel Fire Department, South Blooming Grove Fire Department, and New Windsor Ambulance.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
