New Windsor man indicted on murder charge

On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Cameron Williams, 25, of New Windsor, was arraigned in Orange County Court on an indictment charging murder in the second degree and related charges Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announce. He was remanded back to Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,000,000 cash bail, $3,000,000 fully secured bond and $10,000,000 partially secured bond and is next scheduled for a conference on December 4, 2024.

According to Hoovler’s announcement, on October 13, 2024, at around 10:45 p.m. in the city of Newburgh, after an altercation, Williams allegedly “retrieved several kitchen knives from a residence and approached a man who was laying on West Parmenter Street and repeatedly stabbed him to death.” The City of Newburgh Police Department investigated the attack and developed Williams as a suspect, which led to his arrest.

“The violent acts allegedly perpetrated by this defendant are unconscionable,” said District Attorney David M. Hoovler. “I commend the City of Newburgh Police for their quick response and for the investigation which led to the arrest of the defendant. My office is dedicated to the pursuit of justice on behalf of the victim and our community. We remain steadfast in our commitment to the investigation and prosecution of violent crime in Orange County.”

The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Christopher Kelly.
