Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler received the 2025 Leadership Award on June 19 from the Orange County Shields, a fraternal organization of law enforcement officers in Orange County. City of Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden was also recognized during the organization’s annual barbeque.
“Orange County is a safe place...and a lot of that has to do with our DA...a strong supporter of law enforcement and a former police office himself...he is one of the toughest DA’s we have,” said Orange County Shields President Anthony LaPeruta while introducing Hoovler. LPuerta is a lieutenant with the City University of New York Department of Public Safety who has 25 years of law enforcement experience.
“I am very grateful for the award I received from the Orange County Shields, which I see as a testament to my dedication to law enforcement and the partnerships I have developed with the police, first as an officer myself, then as a line prosecutor, and since 2014 as the chief law enforcement officer of Orange County,” Hoovler said. “These partnerships are not only useful but are necessary as we work together to make Orange County a safe and prosperous home for us all. I appreciate the selfless service of our men and women in blue and I am humbled to be honored by this fine organization.”
