Talking about Mars

| 09 Jan 2013 | 11:50

Greenwood Lake resident Dr. Charles Holmes, who provided oversight and guidance to NASA headquarters and at its Heliophysics Great Observatory, spoke to students at Monroe-Woodbury Middle School in a special program sponsored by the Monroe-Woodbury Parents Advocating Gifted Education (PAGE) group this past Tuesday. Holmes’ topic was about ‘Curiosity,” the roving science laboratory on Mars which successfully landed Aug. 6, 2012. He talked about how Curiosity got to Mars, why it’s there and what NASA scientists hope to learn about Mars and the search for Martian life from Curiosity’s data. Asking him some questions after his talk concluded were, in the front row and from the left: Steven Chanat and Josh LeViseur; and in the back row: Michael Serringer, Heather Yarrington and Nathaniel Maddalena.
