Photos by Nancy Kriz Volunteers gather with the Thanksgiving boxes they prepared this past Saturday at the Monroe Food Pantry. In assembly line fashion, they finalized the stuffing of about 130 boxes.

Boxes were stuffed with pies, fresh produce, potatoes, rolls, stuffing mix and other items to make a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Frozen turkeys were part of the package.

MONROE — This past Saturday, the Monroe Food Pantry - based at the Monroe United Methodist Church - distributed about 130 boxed dinners as part of its annual Thanksgiving meal distribution.
Some of the canned goods, fresh produce and turkeys items came from the Hudson Valley Food Bank while other food items were donated by the community or purchased by the pantry with cash donations.
Many Girl Scout troops assisted community volunteers in preparing the boxes and distributing to those in need who otherwise would not have a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
Community members help with the regular distribution of food on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.
