Orange County spelling contest set for M-A-R-C-H 14
GOSHEN The annual Orange County Spelling Contest, sponsored by the Times Herald-Record, will be held Wednesday, March 14, 7 p.m., in the auditorium of the Emanuel Axelrod Education Center on Gibson Road in Goshen.
Seventh and eighth grade students attending public and private schools in Orange County will participate in this event organized by the Orange-Ulster BOCES School Library Services.
Orange County School Boards Association donates ribbons and plaques for the participants and winners.
The first-place winner of the Orange County Bee will have the opportunity to compete on the national level at the Scripps Spelling Bee to be held in Washington, D.C., from May 27 through June 1.
The students competing this year have won their local spelling contests in the following schools:
