Larkin brings Task Force on Heroin-Opioid Addiction to Hudson Valley

    NEWBURGH — State Sen. Bill Larkin will host a public hearing of the New York State Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction.
    This public hearing will solicit input on the rise in the use of heroin and opioids and to develop legislative recommendations for treating and preventing addition and its consequences.
    The event will be held at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center in the City of Newburgh on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon.
    “This forum being right here in the City of Newburgh will allow local experts, victims and other stakeholder’s to have valuable input on helping to create meaningful solutions to this ongoing issue," Larkin said in the press release detailing the public hearing. "I know that through cooperation and teamwork we will be able to engage in conversations that will produce positive results.”
    Larkin will be joined by Task Force co-chair Sen. George Amedore and other Senate Task Force members. Members will examine the issues and solicit input from experts and other stakeholders about addiction prevention and treatment options, the rise in heroin and opioid use, and the potential for drug-related crimes and other negative community impacts. The task force will then develop recommendations, which will be used to draft legislation to address the issues raised.
