Irving Zuckerman joins Orange County Land Trust board

MIDDLETOWN — Irving H. Zuckerman of Chester has been appointed for a three-year term to serve on the Board of Directors of the Orange County Land Trust.
Zuckerman is a principal and co-president of Verticon, Ltd, a construction firm in Monroe specializing in commercial building throughout the Hudson Valley.
He currently serves as vice chairman of the Orange County Planning Board and is a member of the Board of Directors of Inspire Alternatives.
He formerly served on the boards of the Orange County Citizens Foundation, Elant Foundation and Arden Hill Hospital Foundation. He is active in the Orange County Partnership, Sullivan County Partnership, Alliance for Balanced Growth, U.S. Green Building Council and the Manufacturers Association of the Hudson Valley.
“Irv brings a wealth of business and planning experience to our organization, combined with an enthusiasm for land protection and the outdoors,” Marlena Lange, president of the Land Trust said in a press release announcing the appointment.
Irv and his wife, Dale, are active hikers and kayakers and enjoy snowshoeing among other outdoor activities.
“Protecting our quality of life here, and our open spaces, are key to attracting good business to Orange County,” he said, “which benefits us all.”
For nearly two decades, Orange County Land Trust has worked to preserve Orange County’s natural resources, scenic landscapes and working farmland, resulting in the protect nearly 4,500 acres of land, including 12 working farms.
Ten nature preserves are owned and managed by the Land Trust, of which seven are open to the public everyday for outdoor recreation and nature study.
Two preserves are leased to farmers and are in production and one is protected wildlife habitat.
