Community Foundation scholarship reception celebrates students

MONTGOMERY The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan hosted a scholarship reception on July 26 in honor of 2012 scholarship recipients and donors. More than $98,000 in scholarships were awarded this year.
The Community Foundation administers more than 120 charitable funds, 55 of which are scholarship funds, providing a profound impact on Hudson Valley students (and families) who desire a higher education, Karen VanHouten Minogue, the foundations executive director, said in a press release detailing the scholarships.
Added: Gerald N. Jacobowitz, the Community Foundation Board President: We are very pleased to have positively affected 77 scholarship students and to assist in their higher education this year. Giving donors and board members the opportunity to meet students face to face was very gratifying.
Since the Community Foundations inception in 1999, more than $1 million in scholarships have been awarded. The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, a 501(c)(3) public charity was created to help individuals, organizations, and businesses establish charitable endowments.

Alison Klepper Memorial Scholarship: $1,000
Deirdre Davis, who plans on studying physical therapy at SUNY Oneonta.
Anthony C. Quinn Memorial Scholarship: $750
Deirdre Davis, who will attend SUNY Oneonta.
John P. Williamson Memorial Scholarship: $1,000
