Graduations
Stephanie Burke of Central Valley graduated Deans List from Rockland Community College with an associates degree in childhood education with a 3.7 GPA.
Her academic achievements include induction into:
Phi Theta Kappa - International Scholastic Honor Society for two year colleges.
Kappa Delta Pi - A prestigious International Honor Society in Education.
Stephanie was also a member of the RCC womens basketball team that finished 21 -11 and reached the semi-finals of the Region 15 tournament.
She was the recipient of the following awards:
NJCAA All American - Award for exemplary academic achievement as a member of the womens basketball team.
New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) Education Scholarship.
Michelle Despinasse Scholarship (RCC Athletic Department).
Sportsmanship Award - RCC Womens Basketball (2011-12).
Stephanie will be attending SUNY Brockport where she was accepted into its Honors Program and she will also continue her athletic pursuits.
Brad Appel has graduated from Texas A&M University, earning a masters of science degree in nuclear engineering. He holds a bachelor's degree in astronautical engineering from Purdue University and is employed by SpaceX in Hawthorne, California, as a propulsion development engineer.
Brad is a 2005 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School.
Deans list
Macgill Davis of Tuxedo Park, class of 2014, has been named to the deans list for the spring 2012 semester at Tufts University in Medford, Mass.
Deans list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.
Lauren Alifano of Monroe has earned a place on the deans list for the spring 2012 semester at Dean College in Franklin, Mass.
Students are eligible to be named to the deans list if they have successfully completed an academic course load of 14 credits per semester with a grade point average of 3.3 or higher, with no grade below B minus.
Lauren is a dance major.
The following students have been cited for academic achievement for the spring 2012 semester by achieving the deans list at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi:
Albalira Gibson-Borrelli of Highland Mills, a bachelor of science in nursing major.
Meaghan McKenna of Monroe, a liberal arts-general studies major.
To qualify, students must have an academic average of 3.50 or higher and take six credit hours or more within the semester.

Deans list status is awarded to students who have successfully completed their course work with a semester grade point average of 3.2 or higher out of a possible 4.0 score.

Deans list students have earned a grade point average of at least 3.30 or higher for that semester out of a possible 4.0, while carrying a full-time minimum course load of at least 12 credit hours
Andrew T. Garry of Monroe has been named to the deans list for the spring 2012 semester at Niagra University. To qualify, a student must attain a grade point average of 3.25 or better for the semester.
Kathryn Lentini of Monroe was named to the deans list for the spring 2012 semester at SUNY Potsdam.
She is a mathematics major.

Awards, honors, programs
SUNY Fredonia recently announced new scholarship recipients for the 2012-13 academic year. Scholarships are made possible by private donors and foundations, most of whom made gifts to the Fredonia College Foundation.
Brittany Toapha of Monroe, a sophomore majoring in Early Childhood and Childhood Education, has received the $5,000 Smith-Viggiani Veterans Scholarship.
College acceptances
Brittany Burton of Monroe has enrolled at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., for the fall 2012 semester. Burton has yet to declare a major.
