Hudson named president of NYS health association

Goshen Orange County Commissioner of Health, Jean M. Hudson, M.D., M.P.H., was recently elected to the position of president of the New York State Association of County Health Officials. Hudson has served Orange County as commissioner of the Department of Health since 2003. She began her term as president of NYS association on June 1,. Prior to that, she served one year as vice-president. She will also serve one year as past-president and serve on the association’s board steering committee. NYSACHO membership is comprised of the 58 local health departments of New York State, including New York City. It is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is “to support local health departments in their work to prevent disease, disability, and injury and promote health and wellness throughout the state.” Before serving as health commissioner in Orange County, Hudson served as deputy commissioner for health services in Westchester County and as a private medical practitioner. She is a board-certified family physician. She received her medical degree from Middlesex Hospital Medical School London, England, and her Masters in Public Health from New York Medical College.
