Central Valley — A comedy night to benefit the “Hope 4 Alvina and Jason” Foundation will be held on Friday, March 25th at Falkirk Estate and Country Club in Central Valley on Friday, March 25. The foundation was set up to raise money to help defray the medical expenses of two area children diagnosed with cancer. Monroe resident Alvina Alliu, age 14, who loves dancing, cheerleading, acting, modeling, was diagnosed with brain cancer last May. She also had two blood clots in her brain, with surgery performed at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. The surgery left Alvina with reduced mobility and strength on her right side as undergoes chemotherapy at Maria Fareri. Central Valley resdient Jason Rumsey, age 11, loves the outdoors, camping, fishing, puzzles, video games and just having fun. He is a member of Woodbury Boy Scout Troop 4. Jason was diagnosed with leukemia last August and he is also currently undergoing chemotherapy at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. Organizers hope this fundraiser will help offset some of the expenses such as gasoline, tolls and treatment co-payments for the Rumsey and Alliu families not covered by insurance. Cost is $60 per person and includes dinner and the show. For more information, call Carmela Simons at 978-8612 or visit www.hope4alvinaandjason.com.
