MONROE-The Sarah Wells Girls Scout Council Cadette Troop 321 in Monroe is collecting old cell phone to aid soldiers overseas. This service project is part of a nationwide effort that recycles old cell phones, regardless of whether they are in working condition or not, in exchange for phone cards that can be used by soldiers in Iraq to call their families back home in the states. The scouts have set up collection sites at the Monroe Free Library, St. Anastasia Church, the Methodist Church, Sacred Heart Church and the American Legion Hall.
