Fleming named regional winner of teaching award

Monroe resident and SUNY Orange business professor Lucinda Fleming has been named a regional winner of the 2011 Teaching Excellence Award presented annually by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. As a regional winner of the ACBSP award, which recognizes individuals each year who exemplify teaching excellence in the classroom, Fleming will receive a medallion and a $100 stipend at the 2011 ACBSP annual conference in June in Indianapolis, and will now be considered for the organization’s International Teaching Excellence Award. She currently serves as assistant chair of the department after having served for several years as chair of the Business Management Department before the College merged it with the Accounting Department. She has helped integrate online learning into the College’s curriculum and has developed many online and hybrid business courses. Last spring, she was presented with the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence, the highest honor bestowed upon community college faculty within the SUNY system.
