Enrichment through music

To the editor: The Monroe-Woodbury Music Boosters would like to extend a welcoming hand to all in the community. We are a group of parents who feel our children have been enriched by their musical experience at school. Year after year, the majority of the top 20 graduates at Monroe-Woodbury High School have been involved in the music program. Research has shown that children who study music have improved organizational skills and are more successful academically. We have real evidence of that here in our own school district. Music Boosters supports music education through scholarships and other special programs. Our efforts are made possible through our membership drive and carnation sales. Last year we awarded $6,400 in scholarships; we also sponsored some special events at our schools. Look for the Music Booster table at the upcoming open houses for grades 4-12. Membership is only $5 for an individual and $10 for a family. We also have a business membership for $25. Our meetings are open to everyone. We are always hoping for more working members. Come see what we are all about. Our first meeting is Oct. 24, 200 in the Central Valley Elementary School conference room. All are welcome. Debbie Buono, president The Monroe-Woodbury Music Boosters
