Middletown — In observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Safe Homes of Orange County and the Orange County Coalition for the Prevention of Violence Against Women will host their seventh annual domestic violence conference and training, on Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Brookside Manor in Middletown. Funded in part by a grant from the Office for Victims of Crime, Training and Technical Assistance Center, “The Lethality Equation” training will feature Craig N. Ackley, former FBI profiler and president of Behavioral Science Education and Consultation Services, Inc., in Spotsylvania, Va., who will address personality issues among domestic and sexual assailants. Designed especially for judges, prosecutors, law enforcement, parole, probation and victim advocates, the conference looks beyond current lethality evaluation tools and abuse histories to understand and help predict future intimate-partner violence and sexual assault. For more information or to register, call Safe Homes of Orange County at 562-5365 or e-mail eventscoordintator@safehomesorangecounty.org. Seating is limited; advanced reservations are required.
