Children injured in three-car crash

Woodbury - Four children were injured in a three-car accident on Route 6 near the New York State Thruway late Sunday afternoon. Helicopters from the New York State Police and Westchester County Medical Center were needed to transport two of the most seriously injured to the Westchester Trauma Center. A third child was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. According to police, a car driven by Carolyn Bendow, 69, of New York City, crossed over into the east bound lane and struck two other vehicles. One, driven by Kristen Learey, 47, of Fort Montgomery, had four children under the age of 13 in her car. The third vehicle hit was driven by Michael J. Grosso, 55, of Bullville. None of the injuries appeared life threatening, police added. No tickets were issued, according to Woodbury Police Chief Robert Kwiatkowski.
