Bridge repair underway in Harriman State Park

    Tuxedo - Construction on the bridge over the spillway at Lakes Askoti and Skannatati on Seven Lakes Drive in Harriman State Park has begun and will continue through the summer and fall, the Palisades Interstate Park Commission announced last week. The project is described this way, based on the information found on the state Department of Environmental Conservation’s Region 3 Completed Applications Wed site: “To replace an existing bridge with a new concrete span bridge and reconstruct the concrete dam spillway from Lake Askoti (Class B), including construction of new concrete abutments and headwalls and construction of new rip-rap embankment protection, in conjunction with the realignment of approximately 900 linear feet of Seven Lakes Drive. The project is being undertaken to correct structural deficiencies of the bridge. The project is located on Seven Lakes Drive between Lake Skannatati and Lake Askoti in Harriman State Park in the Town of Tuxedo, Orange County.” One lane will remain open over the bridge during this project. Meanwhile, the Palisades Interstate Park Commission also announced that the gas station on the southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway south of Exit 1 in Englewood Cliffs will be closed for the next four to six weeks for construction.
