William J. Behringer of Monroe, N.Y., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 72.
The son of Clarence Behringer and Rose Humm Behringer, he was born in Erie, Pa., on Oct. 23, 1945.
William was former Director of Operations and Engineering with Cablevision in Elmsford and originally worked for Highland Telephone in Monroe.
He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Monroe, a member of Pioneers of America and of Woodbury Field & Stream.
He attended Orange County Community College, volunteered for the Orange County Arboretum and was an alumni of the Wood Boat School in Brooklin, Maine.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen Carey Behringer at home; his daughters Kerri Stroka and husband Michael of Goshen and Aileen Behringer of Monroe; brothers Larry Behringer and wife Barb of Franklin, Pa., and Dave Behringer and wife Helen of North East, Pa.; sister Gretchen Schofield of Haverhill, Mass.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Mary Ruff of Monroe; and sister-in-law Linda Carey of Central Valley; four grandchildren: Reagan, Cooper, Oliver and Piper; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held March 4at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home in Monroe.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 5 at Sacred Heart Church.
Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
