Theresa M. McGovern of Monroe passed away peacefully with her husband of 47 years by her side on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan. She was 66 years old.
She was born Jan. 31, 1956, in the Bronx, the daughter of Catherine “Kay” (Barrett) and Daniel “Babe” Greeley.
Theresa worked as a cook at the Washingtonville Central School District for many years.
She is survived by a large extended family, including her husband Glenn McGovern at home, and her children: Glenn McGovern Jr. of Monroe; Jeff McGovern and his wife Holly of Greenville; and Brittany McGovern (Ralph Pazienza) of Cornwall; as well as her two grandchildren Brayden and Hannah McGovern whom she cherished dearly. Further left to hold dear Theresa’s memory are her many sisters and brothers: MaryAnne Carlough and her husband John of Upper Saddle River, N.J.; Daniel Greeley and his wife Laureen of Minnesott Beach, N.C.; Star Greeley of Garnerville; Muriel Greeley of Sloatsburg; Michael Greeley and his wife Donna of Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; John Greeley of Sloatsburg; Cathy Greeley of Suffern; and Joan Statham of Montvale, N.J.; Her beloved in-laws Joan White-McGovern of Temecula, California; Donna and her husband Rick Valentine of St. Augustine, Fla.; and Laura her husband Russ Armstrong of Puyallup, Washington.
In addition to her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her brother Joseph Greeley, nephew Andrew Statham and in-laws Gerry and Peggy McGovern.
She will be remembered fondly for her compassion and big heart.
Visitation was held Jan. 18, 2023, at Smith, Seaman, and Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.
Private burial to be held at a later time.
