Peter J. Prior

Peter J. Prior of Highland Mills passed away at home on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, after a brief illness. He was 67 years old.
The son of Raymond Prior and Kathleen (Gillard) Prior, he was born Feb. 18, 1950, in the Bronx.
Peter was currently a bus driver for the Monroe-Woodbury School District and before that retired from the Grand Union Co. after 30 years with them.
Shortly after moving to Highland Mills in 1979 he decided to join the Highland Mills Fire Co. and was a member to this day. He was so proud to be a part of that great organization and helping others.
Peter valued his many friendships at his current job and at the firehouse and always enjoyed and treasured his loving family and many pets through the years.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Anita (Boenigk) Prior, and his son Scott M. Prior at home; his son James F. Prior and his wife Patricia (Steers) of Palm Bay, Fla.; his brother Joseph Prior and wife Mary of Montgomery; his sister Ann (Prior) Stafford of Wayne, N.J., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Peter was predeceased by his brother Raymond Prior.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, at St. Patrick’s Church, 448 Route 32, Highland Mills.
Interment will follow in Cemetery of The Highlands, in Highland Mills.
