    John J. Stewart of Warwick, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at home after a prolonged illness. He was 77.
    John was born April 12, 1935, in Brooklyn.
    John was preceded in death by his parents, Dagmar Forsell and George Stewart Sr.; a brother, George Stewart; a sister, Ruth Braccio; a sister, Anna Moore; and a sister, Joan Price.
    John was a retired sales forecasting director for Calvin Klein.
    He loved sports and was the founder of the Bay Ridge Little League in Brooklyn. His passion for baseball and Little League led him to be instrumental in getting several baseball fields constructed in Brooklyn.
    He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Arlene, at home; a son, John J. Stewart Jr., of Washingtonville; a daughter, Laura Breslin, and her husband, John, of Warwick; a son, Richard Stewart, and his wife, Kathleen, of Oradell, NJ; his beloved grandchildren: Lisa and Patrick Breslin, John III, George, Thomas and Daniel Stewart. He is also survived by a brother, Daniel Stewart, and wife, Tessie, and a sister, Catherine Stewart, of Toms River, N.J.
    The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff of the Orange and Sullivan County Hospice for their kindness and support.
    Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 22nd, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, with a funeral service being held at 8:30 p.m.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to Hospice of Orange County, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
