    John J. Earley, a longtime resident of the Monroe and Brooklyn areas and a 30-year employee of the New York Post, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill after a long illness. He was 50 years of age.

    The son of Patrick and Mary Linnane Earley, he was born May 23, 1962, in the Bronx.

    John was a member of Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Knight of Columbus in the Brooklyn area.

    John touched everyone he knew. He was a devoted son, a loving brother and a proud uncle as well as a loyal and sincere friend who will be sadly missed.

    Survivors include his parent Patrick and Mary Earley of Monroe, his brother Patrick Earley Jr. of New York, his sister Ann Earley of Monroe and his nieces Nicole, Shannon and Maryna of Monroe.

    He is also survived by his aunts Margaret Finnegan, Ida McDermott, Patricia Earley and Elizabeth Earley, and his uncles Terrance Earley, Lawrence Earley, George Earley and Paddy Linnane.

    He was pre-deceased by his grandparents Mary Ellen and John Earley and Patrick and Winnefred Linnane.

    A funeral Mass was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 42 Goshen Ave., Washingtonville, with the Rev. Jeffrey Mauer officiating.

    Cremation will follow at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc. in Chester.
