James R. Kelly

With a heavy heart, we announce the unexpected passing of James R. Kelly on March 29, 2026. He was 44 years old. Son of James and Christine (Buyes) Kelly, he was born on June 20, 1981, in Middletown, NY.

James worked as an Elevator Mechanic at Mid-American Elevator in New York City, proudly representing Union Local #1 and previously Local #3 I.B.E.W. His service as a former member of the Monroe-Lakeside Fire and Rescue Company exemplifies his commitment to uplifting those around him and making a difference in his community.

He was an incredible father, whose warmth and laughter filled our lives with joy. His absence has left an unimaginable void in our home, and we will deeply miss the love and happiness he brought to us each day.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Lauren Kelly of Monroe, N.Y.; beloved children, James A. Kelly, Jake M. Kelly, and Leanora J. Kelly; parents, James C. Kelly and Christine J. Kelly of Middletown, NY; sister, Deirdre Kelly of Albany, NY; and by nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe, N.Y. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Rd., Monroe, N.Y.

Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory.
