    James F. Hintze, a lifelong resident of the Monroe-Woodbury area, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 83 years old.
    James was born in Cornwall on Halloween 1934 to Frederick and Margorie Hintze.
    James retired from a 25-year career with the Village of Monroe Department of Public Works.
    He will be remembered for the simple things he loved to do: taking long drives, getting ice cream and watching fireworks, but also for his love for his family.
    He married Lorraine F. (Kent) Hintze 59 years ago; she survives him at home. He is further survived by his brothers, Robert Hintze and Dick Tracy and their children; and his children: James L. Hintze and his wife Stacy, Michael A. Hintze and his companion Julie Kaffenberger, Kevin L. Hintze and his wife Charlene and Christine J. O’Brien and her husband Keith.
    “PopPop” was the proud grandfather of Shayna, Mackenzie, Dylan, Victoria, Scott, Amanda, Megan, Courtney, Madison, Ava and Kenny, and the great-grandfather of Olivia. He also is survived by his nieces and nephews.
    A Chapel Service was held Jan. 9 in Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Joseph Tyrrell.
    Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
