Elva Sutcliffe
Elva - Gram - (Morgan) Sutcliffe passed away at home in Monroe on April 24, 2012. She was 92.
Elva was born July 7, 1919 in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada where she lived until 1960.
In 1960, she immigrated to the United States with her first husband, George Rabbitts, and two sons David and Derek.
Elva was preceded in death by George in 1962 and her second husband Raymond Sutcliffe in 1989.
Elva was the next to youngest and last surviving child of George Henry and Margaret McGregor Morgan of St. Johns and Coleys Point, Newfoundland.
Elva lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado for more than 41 years and retired from Sears, where she worked in the credit department. During her time in Colorado, she made many friends and was active with the Sears Retirement Group. She was also involved with the British and Scottish Clubs in Colorado Springs. Elva was a member of the Broadmoor Church of Christ.
Elva is survived by two sons: David Rabbitts and his wife Deborah of Sarasota, Fla.,and Derek Rabbitts and his wife Angela of Monroe; stepsons Paul Sutcliffe and wife Emily of North Carolina and Glenn Sutcliffe and wife Diane of Syracuse; grandchildren Michael D. Rabbitts of Tennessee, Kelly Rabbitts Rohrs of Arizona, Desiree Rabbitts Kania of New York, Laura Rabbitts of Florida, Matthew Rabbitts of New York, David Rabbitts of New York and Michael D. Rabbitts of New York; step-grandchildren Monica Calabrese of Florida and Scott Strawn of Florida; great grandchildren Kayla Beighley, Grant Rabbitts, Kylee Rabbitts, David Rohrs, Sophia and Lawrence Kania; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service and interment will be at Little Britain Presbyterian Church in Little Britain at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation, 21 Asch Loop, Bronx, NY 10475 (www.nyffburncenter.org).
