Wineries

Applewood Winery: 82 Four Corners Rd., Warwick, NY

Winery hours: Fridays 2-8 p.m., Saturdays 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m., Sundays 11:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Café hours: Sat. 11:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m., Sundays 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

In addition to wine, Applewood Winery is also home to Naked Flock Hard Cider. The winery regularly hosts events such as paint-and-sip, trivia and live music. Charcuterie boards are available throughout the week. On weekends, the Cider Café offers pizzas and appetizers in addition to cheese and charcuterie.

Brotherhood Winery: 100 Brotherhood Plaza Dr., Washingtonville, NY

Hours: Tuesday-Thursday 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

This is America’s oldest winery, established in 1839, offering regularly scheduled tours and live music.

Clearview Vineyard & Winery: 35 Clearview Ln., Warwick, NY

Hours: Saturdays 12-6 p.m., Sundays 12-5 p.m.

Swing by between 2p.m.-5 p.m. for live music. Wines include Estate Baco Noir from the Clearview’s own grapes and Cabernet made from grapes from the North Fork of Long Island.

Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery: 114 Little York Rd., Warwick, NY

Hours: open daily from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Café hours: Wednesdays-Fridays 12-5 p.m., weekends 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Warwick Valley Winery offers live music most weekends from 2-5 p.m. A guided tasting menu is available for wines and spirits, and food can be ordered at the grill or cafe. The winery’s orchard opens Labor Day Weekend for pick-your-own apples.

Breweries

Apex Brewery: 405 NY-17M, Monroe, NY

Hours: 4-9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 1-9 p.m. Saturday, 1-6 p.m. Sunday

Leashed dogs are welcome. Events include weekly Stitch and Bitch on Saturday at 1 p.m.: do your project, drink beer and chat. Music Bingo is every Thursday at 6 p.m. and trivia is Sundays at 3 p.m. Beers include Ninnyhammer Pale Ale, EDM Dark Mild, King Ghidorah Monstrous Double Malt Stout, Shamblock Irish red ale and Excessive Force, which packs a real punch.

Drowned Lands: 251 State School Rd., Warwick, NY

Hours: 3-8 p.m. Monday, 3-9 p.m. Thursday, 3-10 p.m. Friday, 12-10 p.m. Saturday, 12-8 p.m. Sunday

The brewery partners with local farms and growers, and offers seasonal food menus, including apps and pizzas, that change seasonally. All bread dough is fermented in-house with hand-selected brewer’s yeast. There are various events offered each month, including trivia on Thursdays at 6 p.m. and karaoke on Fridays at 7 p.m. Outdoor seating is available and dog friendly.

Equilibrium Brewery: 4 South St., Middletown, NY

Hours: Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday 12-10 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

At Equilibrium, they’ve got beer down to a science: Brewmaster and co-owner Pete Oates, an MIT grad and environmental engineer, started brewing beer in his basement as a hobby in 2013. He and co-owner Ricardo Petroni, a fellow MIT grad and engineer opened Equilibrium in 2016. The balanced beers include stouts, IPAs, farmhouse ales and more. The brewery’s restaurant, Bonfire, serves up freshly smoked barbeque.

Clemson Brothers Brewery: 22 Cottage St., Middletown, NY

Hours: Wednesday 4-7 p.m., Thursday 12-8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 12 p.m.-12 a.m., Sundays 12 p.m.-7 p.m.

The local staple is one of Orange County’s first breweries, brewing everything from blonde ales and wheat beers, to stouts and IPAs. Food offerings include classic pub fare and innovative culinary creations. There is an outdoor seating area and a game room.

Long Lot Brewery: 153 Johnson Rd., Chester, NY

Hours: Monday Thursday and Friday 4-9 p.m., Saturday 1-9 p.m., Sunday 1-8 p.m.

Long Lot is a true farm brewery, serving up beers produced primarily using New-York-State grown ingredients, many of which are grown own Long Lot’s farm in Chester. Long Lot is known for its signature spicy stout, but also offers an array of saisons and IPAs. Live music is regularly scheduled throughout the summer. Food trucks are often available on site - and so is the official brewery cat, Gogo.

Rushing Duck Brewery: 2 Greycourt Ave., Chester, NY

Hours: Wednesday 4-8 p.m., Thursday 4-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 12-9 p.m., Sunday 12-6 p.m.

The Black Dirt Region’s original brewery, Rushing Duck, has been slinging brews in Chester since 2012. It was the second brewery to open in Orange County. It has grown since then, now serving about 20 different beers on tap. Rushing Duck and is known for its variety of beer: hoppy, malty, American-styled, Belgian influenced, barrel aged, sours, and more. Outdoor seating is available. Rotating food vendors, including local favorites such as Nee Nee’s Kitchen, are often available.

Tin Barn Brewery: 62 Kings Highway Bypass, Sugar Loaf, NY

Hours: Thursday 5-9 p.m., Friday 2-10 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 12-7 p.m.

Tin Barn is known for its juicy IPAs and heavily fruited sours. There is ample seating inside the sprawling barn, where the beers are produced, and outside both in the grass and on an elevated deck. The food menu features pizzas, snacks and burgers. The outdoor area is dog friendly.

Fence Road Farm Brewery: 13 Fence Rd., Warwick, NY

Hours: Wednesday and Thursday 12-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 12-11 p.m., Sunday 12-8 p.m.

In addition to serving up its own craft beer, Fence Road Farm Brewery also features its own 18-hole disc golf course on-site. Outdoor seating is available, along with a food menu that includes appetizers and wood-fired pizzas made with farm-grown ingredients.

Aspire Brewing: 600 N. Galleria Dr., Middletown, NY

Hours: Sunday 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m., Monday and Tuesday 4-9:30 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m.

In addition to offering over 40 craft beers on tap, Aspire has a self-pour tap wall, a full kitchen and pub menu, axe throwing, indoor cornhole and indoor golf simulators. Outdoor seating is also available.

Glenmere Brewing Company: 55 Maple Ave., Florida, NY

Hours: Thursday and Friday 4-9 p.m., Saturday: 1-9 p.m., Sunday: 1-7 p.m.

The Glenmere Brewing Company, named after the lake from which the brewing water comes, is known for signature flagship and one-off brews using proprietary recipes, locally grown ingredients and collaborative efforts with local growers and brewers. The brewery is dog friendly, has outdoor seating, and often has a food truck on-site.

Distilleries

Jayne Street Distilling Co.: 41 Jayne St., Florida, NY

Hours: Friday 2-11 p.m., Saturday 5-11 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Jayne Street Distillery produces small-batch spirits on-site, crafted from locally-sourced Hudson Valley botanicals. Located in a barn on the corner of Main & Jayne Streets in Florida, the distillery’s offerings include handcrafted cocktails and a seasonal food menu.

Orange County Distillery at Brown Barn Farms: 286 Maple Ave., New Hampton, NY

Hours: Friday 4-10 p.m., Saturday 12-10 p.m., Sunday 12-7 p.m.

Brown Barn Farms is home to both Orange County Distillery and (newer in recent years) Orange County Brewing Company. A true farm-to-glass operation, all of OCD/OCBC’s spirits and beer are grown, produced and bottled/canned at the farm in Goshen.

Brown Barn is dog-friendly outdoors, offering fire pits in the evening and outdoor seating. A food truck is available on site for snacks.

Apple Dave’s Orchards & Distillery: 82 Four Corners Rd., Warwick, NY

Hours: Weekends 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Apple Dave’s produces AppleJack, made and bottled on-site using the traditional 1840’s-style “jacking” process. The distillery serves seasonal cocktails alongside local wine and craft beer. A seasonal food menu is also available. The distillery is dog friendly, offers outdoor seating, and has regularly scheduled live music all summer long.

Cideries

Orchard Cider Mill: Soons Orchards, 25 Soons Cir., New Hampton, NY

Hours: Friday and Saturday 8:30 a.m.-6p.m., Sunday 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Orchard Hill Cider Mill specializes in ciders for wine drinkers, made from apples grown on its orchard. Inspired by European cideries, Orchard Hill’s canned and bottled ciders often tend to be drier. The cider mill location serves up coffee and baked goods via Cider House Coffee in the mornings. Cider and cocktails are available starting at noon.

Pennings Farm Cidery: 4 Warwick Tpke., Warwick, NY

Hours: Thursday and Friday 3-9  p.m., Saturday 12-9 p.m., Sunday 12-8 p.m.

Pennings Farm Cidery produces over a dozen orchard-grown hard ciders to remain on tap while open. Seating for diners is available outdoors and indoors, where guests can enjoy brick oven pizza with hard ciders, New York State beer and wine, as well as specialty cocktails made with Pennings Vodka. Live music is scheduled regularly throughout the summer, along with many special events. Trivia is Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.
